Mass-storage device - A mass-storage device is usually a very high capacity computer storage medium that is an order of magnitude less costly than a hard disk or other primary storage media. In order for the device to be less costly there is usually some form of compromise which is often the time taken to store or recover the data.
Associative storage - In telecommunication, associative storage is a computer storage device whose storage locations are identified by their contents, or by a part of their contents, rather than by their names or positions. Associative storage can also refer to this process as well as to the device.
External storage - A device that temporarily stores information for transporting from computer to computer.
Object storage device - An Object Storage Device (OSD) enables the creation of self-managed, shared and secure storage for storage networks.
